I think. I define police brutality as harassment, like skin color, race, gender. Um. I experienced brutal police brutality with a friend. We were just minding our own business parked up. The police didn't have no reason to bother us, but because of that, they supposedly said that they got a call in the area that we were sitting there making noise. We weren't really doing anything, planning our phones in the car. And they walked up and was like, We need to search the car. You guys need to get out. And we like, what's the probable cause? Like who portugais to tell you? And they're like, We can't release that information. Only thing we could tell you is that we got a call and you guys don't live here. So, you know, and we're like, this is a public it's public area. Like, you know, we have the right to be over here. So they're like, well, technically we have a right to search you, so you guys have to get out of the car. So they're searching my friend's car and he doesn't have the best shape car. And they literally pick his car apart like they break the doors, they break the compartment. We reverse the car back, like they just totally destroyed the car. And afterwards they was like when we were like, well, you guys broke the car. Are you guys going to fix it? And they were like, It's not our problem. We didn't find what we were looking for. So you guys can go on about your day in this brutality, harassment, it continue for like a couple to a couple of weeks. They were always harasses they would have me get out and I'm like, you guys don't have probable cause to search me like I'm not on probation or anything. And they're like, We don't give a fuck about that. Like, we're still going to search. Like, we know if there's a gun in here, we're going to search the car like we don't care. So we're like, Can you call your watch commander out? You know, blasé, blasé. And they're like, If you guys don't be quiet, we're going to handcuff you and put you in the car like, you know.
text/plain
https://archive.empathyarchive.com/collections/1734/collection_resources/56780/file/130940#t=5.85,155.4
https://archive.empathyarchive.com/collections/1734/collection_resources/56780/file/130940/transcript/49351/annotation/3
https://archive.empathyarchive.com/collections/1734/collection_resources/56780/file/130940#t=159.29,161.03
https://archive.empathyarchive.com/collections/1734/collection_resources/56780/file/130940/transcript/49351/annotation/4
Speaker 2: Yeah, they don't they don't give a fuck about being professional. An officer was being a dick, but because of the other officer that always harassed me and harassed my friend, they came by and was like, Oh, I know her. Like, just let her out. And they did this one time. It was cold outside and it was like you could tell it was cold. And I had on like, I think like a dress or something. And they're like, Yep, you got to get out the car. So we're about to search the car in like, my friend's like, you already broke the car like a party. And it was like, oh, well, so like, they just continued to break, not care, like police harassment. That's what I consider harassment. And I only think they do it because they know, like, the area and like, just because we're black, like not trying to even throw the race card out there, but because just because of that and also, like it affect me because now I don't even like the police in it. I can't stand the police. Like when I see even when I see the officers feel like I don't even look at him, I drop my head or I'll go the other way because I don't want to I don't want to have contact with you.
