Well, a while back, I remember the riots and. And I remember people were taking things. I was a teenager. So, yeah, I was going along taking some stuff, too. But then when I went over there to take some stuff and then they said, Oh, we don't care about this neighborhood. We just care about art. Even as long as you don't come up in our neighborhood, we don't care what you do in your neighborhood. And I thought I was like, oh, I mean, I just I don't know. It just changed my whole demeanor. And and I. I went home. I went home and I just. I see a lot of in from that. I see a lot of them not talking to us with the respect that we deserve. And I never experienced in them hitting me. They never hit me or or never did. I've never really been in that type of trouble like that. But I remember them stopping my son in law and my daughter came. And it seemed like when people speak up and people know their rights, then they they let you go on about your business. Because my son in law never been in jail. Never been in jail at all. He just had a few tickets. So they let him go, thanks to my daughter because of her speaking up for him. And and they they just kept him for hours after hours after hours. And but they finally let him go. And then but as far as that is concerned, I tried to say something positive to the police because I know they're going through a lot. So I try to say something to them like, God bless you, KING Jesus loves you, too. Kind of helped him in the world because I know it's there. It's just so negative. The world is so negative. And I know they they seem like they have some type of defense mode and they just want to I don't know what it is. I think they're scared of somebody hurting them. So they hurt, you know, they try to defense their selves real bad of people that really are not going to try, but it's not going to hurt you. And that's that's the part that's as far as police brutality I've seen. And then I've seen them where they will just because you walk in and they just stop the people and they the they was just walking and why did they stop them. So that that's another thing I think that to me is not right for them to do.
text/plain
https://archive.empathyarchive.com/collections/1734/collection_resources/56788/file/130948#t=19.06,174.67
https://archive.empathyarchive.com/collections/1734/collection_resources/56788/file/130948/transcript/49335/annotation/6
https://archive.empathyarchive.com/collections/1734/collection_resources/56788/file/130948#t=175.57,179.44
https://archive.empathyarchive.com/collections/1734/collection_resources/56788/file/130948/transcript/49335/annotation/7
https://archive.empathyarchive.com/collections/1734/collection_resources/56788/file/130948#t=179.98,181.72
https://archive.empathyarchive.com/collections/1734/collection_resources/56788/file/130948/transcript/49335/annotation/8
https://archive.empathyarchive.com/collections/1734/collection_resources/56788/file/130948#t=181.87,182.62
https://archive.empathyarchive.com/collections/1734/collection_resources/56788/file/130948/transcript/49335/annotation/9
Speaker 1: Like when they just walk in, like with they just if they're just sitting down kicking in or together. So it doesn't mean it's time for you. I mean, they didn't look like they were doing nothing. Now, maybe they were looking for somebody. So I don't know what they got on. They probably they had a description of somebody they they did find. I don't know. But because the other day the police came around our house and it was looking for something. And but they're they're they're flashlight and stuff, but they wasn't being mean to me or nothing. I said hi and they said hi back. But other than that, I know police brutality is just what it looks like is the word. You don't show the other person respect. And then if they did something wrong, they did something wrong. But I don't think that she should hurt them and hit them and and knock them out or something. It just arrest them and then let them and do whatever you have to do with them. I mean, they're not hurting you. Yeah. If they're if they tied up in it already, why are you still here? Why are you hitting them? Oh, I understand that. And then I seen a lot of stuff too long on the cameras with the police as hurting people. And in our pastor. Big, big on gang for bitch, gang prevention, Wrecking Crew for Christ. We're real big on gang prevention. So we he stands up, we walk the streets and march in for peace. He march for peace, you know, and and people have really put their guns down and people have really turn their lives around. And a lot of people in the world just need some type of they need the love because they they were grown up in different type of housing situations and it makes them desperate for help. And I know there's no excuse for violence, but I just I just think we need to be on another level with them and come out and love and start praying for our people and to. Start trying to do what we can to do as far as we can get programs and help and a lot of stuff just comes up to prayer because can't help everybody somewhere by don't want help. But that I just think that when they get arrested, I think they have a right to be arrested. I mean, they arrest they have a right to not to get hit by your wrist. Yeah, I know. And that's brutality. I mean, there's no respect like that in and being don't say that [Unrecognized] part, but we're talking about of oh my part of it my bad. But yeah, that was this, That's just what I feel I can find. That's police brutality. Okay.
text/plain
https://archive.empathyarchive.com/collections/1734/collection_resources/56788/file/130948#t=183.22,348.58
https://archive.empathyarchive.com/collections/1734/collection_resources/56788/file/130948/transcript/49335/annotation/10
Speaker 2: And then so the the police like the policing that you talk about where you see police officers just well, maybe people that are just walking by or hanging out. Just they just I don't know what it is in in a in a like I've seen, I've seen So police don't look like police officers. They look like gangbangers and skinheads are kids, you know they look like. Racists in jail? Don't know. I've never allowed I've seen police are bussing some people. Driving a car like that didn't look right. And I had a police cop and he'd look like a gangbanger. I mean, he portraying acting like a gangbanger, and that was his. And then and then some lady came up to me and when she said it and she was crying to me, I was at the liquor store. She's not just crying. She said, Well, these are some skinheads. Just came up and hit my friend and just start beating them up. And something did something for her, she said, But they got them. But they got them. I said, Really? She said, I said, Is your friend okay? I said, I think he'll be okay. But but they just kind of just trippin on us and just she said, But they got them. They got them. I said, okay, well, I'm glad they got them. So, I mean, so that just clarifies what I said because I see some police officers don't look like police officers.
