I've experienced it multiple times more. Okay. I would say before I was the age of 16, I had already had guns drawn on me by the police, maybe about three times. And, you know, no matter what the situation was for, I was 14, 15, six, and they had no business pulling a gun out on me whether I was right or wrong in the situation. They could see I didn't pose a threat and they had no reason to put a gun out on me. You know, so, I mean, I would consider that police brutality. But, you know, also, when I was 14 years old, I got into I got into a situation where I was with one of my friends and we got into an argument with a group of other young kids and we were walking down the street. Nothing had happened. We didn't even fight the guys. It was nothing like that. But I guess since there was a little bit of a commotion, the police were called because long story short, somebody was, you know, picking on my best friend's little brother. So we went over there to see what the situation was, got into an argument with them, didn't fight them. We left the police pulled up. And as the police pulled up, you know, they they asked us, you know, hey, what is your guys's name? They they stepped out and we were like, hey, we didn't commit any crimes. We didn't do anything, you know? And the police were like, Hey, we don't want to hear that. Come over here and sit down. You know? So we kind of like sat down and we were talking and I kind of like got up, you know, I don't what am I here for? I'm I'm going to leave. So I started to walk away and they were like, Hey, come here. And then I was like, No. And then, you know, they they grabbed me. They slammed me on to the ground. And, you know, I kind of you know, I can't lie to you. I was a little in the wrong because I started cussing them out like, you know, what the hell are you guys doing? And then before I know it, they just start punching the bone. The dude starts punching me. He actually put me in the hospital. I had. I had a bunch of bruises all over my face. Uh, he he handcuffed me and continued to hit me. Even whenever I was in the car. He continued to hit me. And by the time I got to the police station, they they, of course, like, released me because I didn't commit any crime. They had to have my mom picked me up. Like as soon as my mom saw me, she just started crying, you know, like, that's how messed up I was. And she was like, What the hell? Like, what you guys do to my son. And then so my mom took it back, took them, took me back to the house, and then she called the police on the police. So she was like, whoa, If they didn't want to hear it, I'm going to call the police and see if we can make a separate, uh, separate complaint on the police officers, you know? And then it was crazy because the police were called out and the same exact guy that beat me up, his partner came in to do the interview and he was like, Hey, well, it didn't happen. How your son is saying, you know, your your son was resisting arrest and all this stuff, you know, and then had the nerve to tell my mom. And if you want to punish him any further, don't worry, because we're going to be the ones to get the call, you know? So that was kind of crazy to me, so that it was kind of like we were helpless in the situation. What could we do for them to you know what I'm saying? Like, be punished? They weren't getting punished. There's no way for us to, you know, take them to court because, look, they're all covering up for each other, you know, So that was kind of crazy. And that kind of like changed my outlook on the police in my neighborhood where I grew up. I didn't grow up in the best areas, you know, And no matter what we're taught, when you see the police, even if you're not doing anything wrong, you have to run and try to get away because they're probably going to mess you up anyways and wish you had ran, you know, so you're in trouble even if you didn't do anything to get in trouble. And that's always how it is with the police. And even even still to this day, when I see police officers, even if I don't have anything bad on me, I didn't do anything bad. My stomach still kind of, you know, like if they get behind me on my day and what do I do? What how are they going to handle the situation? Because the reality of it is if I'm to get pulled over and that cop just decides to shoot me for no reason, literally, what could I do about it? You know what I mean? So I'm I'm helpless in that situation, you know, to where we can't really protect ourselves because the police are shooting people and getting away with it. And I know I know of two people in my neighborhood that have been shot by police officers and nothing happened to that cop. You know what I mean? And that's crazy to me. You know, So.
text/plain
https://archive.empathyarchive.com/collections/1734/collection_resources/56777/file/130937#t=17.94,272.29
https://archive.empathyarchive.com/collections/1734/collection_resources/56777/file/130937/transcript/49349/annotation/5
Speaker 1: I mean, I understand why 100% is completely and honestly true, because how are you going to just kill someone? If you're not going to lay down and and do what those other cops want, they kind of outcast you as a cop.
